What does a sleep assessment involve?

A sleep assessment is a set of questions about how you sleep and how that shows up in your days. Khaya's assessment, SleepPath, takes about 10 minutes, in four short parts1. You get a report that says what each part means and what to change first1. It isn't a medical diagnosis2.

The four parts

  1. Your sleep pattern. When you go to bed, when you get up and how long you sleep, on work days and days off3.
  2. Your nights. Snoring, restlessness and difficulty sleeping. This part also asks a few health questions, such as blood pressure and body measurements3. It includes questionnaires clinicians also use3.
  3. Your days. Energy, concentration, mood, and how much your sleep affects what you need to do3.
  4. Your habits and your room. Things like caffeine, screens and exercise, and the bedroom itself: light, noise, temperature, and who shares the space3.

You can stop after any part and pick up where you left off1. You'll need a Khaya account, and you don't need a Dormio, or anything to wear or plug in1.

What you get back

A report in plain language that covers each area of your sleep, with suggestions on what to change first1.

If you'd like to take it further, you can connect with GPs, sleep technologists and specialists, and request an appointment in the same place1. That's your choice.

What it isn't

It doesn't diagnose anything, and it doesn't replace an examination by a clinician2. Any decision about diagnosis or treatment is one to make together with your clinician2.
